labama Gold Star Families is a nonprofit organization formed in 2007 by a group of Alabama families to recognize the sacrifice of Alabamians who have given their lives in defense of their country. We support the families of these brave men and women, and work to memorialize their sacrifice.

We are an IRS recognized Section 501(c)(3) Public Charity, incorporated as a Domestic Non-Profit Corporation in Jefferson County, Alabama.  Your contributions to Alabama Gold Star Families are tax-deductible.
Our next event is the 3rd annual “Vettes for Vets” auto show
Our financial support comes primarily from corporate sponsorship, donations from individuals, and funds raised through charitable events.  We hope you will consider making a donation to Alabama Gold Star Families or attending one of our events.

The purpose of our current fundraising is to raise money to construct a Memorial on the American Village property adjacent to the new Alabama National Cemetery.  To view an image of the proposed design please click here

The monument will be 5 feet tall with 3 foot panels on each side, with a 2 1/2 foot battlefield memorial in bronze on the top.  The center of the memorial will be black and gray granite.  In the foreground, each of the Alabamians who has died since 9/11 will be remembered with a brick listing his or her name, branch of the military, and date of death.  The approximate cost of only the granite and bronze parts of this memorial is $31,000.

The Board of Trustees of the American Village must approve the design, and the project engineer must finalize the specifics of the location of the memorials on the Village property prior to construction.
